DES PLAINES — The Sandburg men's soccer team stayed hot as it earned a 2-0 win Saturday at Oakton to give the Chargers their fifth straight victory.
Sandburg (8-2-2) also remained unbeaten in its last seven matches, going 5-0-2 during that stretch.
The Chargers scored a goal in each half as they picked up the road victory over the Owls. Craig Sewell got Sandburg on the board as he scored in the 25th minute from an Emiliano Sosa assist.
The Chargers added an insurance tally in the 70th minute when Luis Garcia assisted on Mateo Figueroa's goal.
Oakton had 14 total shot attempts to the Chargers' eight, but the Owls only put four shots on frame. Sandburg keeper Sergi Cruz was flawless while making four saves to post his second clean sheet in as many contests.
Saturday marked the fifth time this season the Chargers didn't concede a goal. Three of those shutouts have come in the last four games.
