Chargers continue scoring barrage with 10-0 win over Kennedy-King

GALESBURG — The Sandburg men's soccer team tallied double-digit goals for the second game in a row in a 10-0 barrage of Kennedy-King on Monday afternoon at Kleine Field.

Rodrigo De la Fuente, coming off a school-record seven goals in last week's win 27-0 win at UW-Whitewater at Rock County, had a hat trick and added an assist in Monday's victory over the Statesmen. The sophomore scored in the 38th, 48th and 77th minutes. De la Fuente now has 18 goals on the season, which ranks second in NJCAA Division II.

Luis Garcia scored twice and had a pair of assists for the Chargers (7-2-3), who were among those receiving votes in this week's national rankings. Valentin Kretschmer also had two goals in Monday's win. Kretschmer's first goal opened the scoring in the 10th minute.

Rodolfo Gabriel Pereira Batisti (50th minute) and Mario Segura (57th minute) contributed the Chargers' other two goals in the win.

Sophomore Gabriel Barros Lima tallied two assists for Sandburg, which had 21 total shots and 15 shots on goal.

Lucas Sa de Alburquerque Maranhao saved all five shots on goal he faced in keeping a clean sheet. Maranhao hasn't surrendered a goal in four of his eight appearances in net this season.
