3 Chargers voted to All-Arrowhead Conference volleyball team

GALESBURG — The Sandburg volleyball team had three players voted to the All-Arrowhead Conference team by league coaches for this season.

Sophomore Abigail Shaffer was joined on the squad by freshmen Harlee Hainds and Jalie Eller. The trio helped the Chargers finish with a 7-3 Arrowhead record and second-place finish in the conference. Hainds and Eller were two of only four first-year players named to the 12-member all-conference team.

Shaffer, a 5-foot-7 outside hitter from Southeastern High School, earned an all-conference nod after being selected to the All-Region 4 team earlier this month. In 34 sets across 10 conference matches, Shaffer led the Chargers with 78 kills, 301 attacks and 92 points. She was also second on the team with 149 service receptions and 144 digs.

Hainds, a 6-foot middle hitter from Oquawka, racked up a team-leading 23 total blocks in Arrowhead action. The West Central High School product was second to Shaffer among Chargers with 66 kills and 89 points while posting a .206 hitting percentage.

A 5-10 right side from St. Teresa High School in Decatur, Eller was a major contributor offensively and defensively for Sandburg. In 32 Arrowhead sets, Eller had 57 kills and 65 points. Her 120 service receptions and 97 digs both ranked third among Chargers.
