Seei posts pair of rounds in 80s for Chargers at Augustana Highland Classic
GALESBURG — Olivia Seei shot a pair of rounds in the 80s to lead the Sandburg women's golf team at the Augustana Highland Classic on Sunday and Monday at Highland Springs.
Seei opened with a 12-over-par 84 and added an 85 in Monday's final round to tie for 25th overall. The freshman from Geneseo carded birdies Monday at the par-5 second and par-4 seventh holes.
Allie Thome's first-round 83 was the best score of the tournament for Sandburg, which finished 10th as a team. Thome added a second-round 93 and placed 43rd.
The Chargers shot a 343 in the first round and closed with a 360. Sandburg finished 12 shots ahead of 11th-place Rock Valley, the only other NJCAA program in the 13-team field. The remaining teams were from NCAA Division III and NAIA schools.
Host Augustana made up an eight-shot deficit after Round 1 to win the championship by three shots over Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a total of 614. The Vikings shot 300 in the final round.
UW-Oshkosh's Taryn Endres shot 3 over for the tournament to win the individual title by five strokes over Illinois College's Maci Petropoulos. Endres shot a 1-under 71 in the final round.
