Heintzelman Ties for 9th to Pace Chargers at Sandburg Invite
GALESBURG — All three members of the Carl Sandburg College women's golf team shot in the 90s in the final round as the Chargers hosted the Sandburg Invite on Saturday at Lake Bracken and Sunday at Bunker Links.
After shooting a team-best 98 in the first round, Averi Heintzelman (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) shot a 92 on Sunday, tying her for ninth in the tournament. Heintzelman moved up four spots on the leaderboard in the final round, the biggest jump of any player in the field.
Sandburg's Anna Duden (Gifford, Ill./Armstrong) was 15th with rounds of 103 and 93, and Olivia Schwingle (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) was 16th at 199 for the tournament, including a 92 on Sunday.
Iowa Wesleyan's Karli Kirchner was medalist with a 36-hole total of 164 to win by four strokes over teammate Aubrey Duncan and Illinois College's Alyvia Burr.
Illinois College was the team champion with a score of 697. Iowa Wesleyan was second at 716.
