Pieper’s season-high 25 points push Chargers past WolfPack

GALESBURG — Brook Pieper's game-high 25 points helped power the Sandburg women's basketball team to a 77-61 home victory over Madison on Saturday.

KEY MOMENTS
• Up 23-21 midway through the second quarter, the Chargers put together a 9-0 run to stretch their lead to double digits. Pieper was fouled by converting a putback with 4:20 left, and Tyriunna Steele grabbed Pieper's missed free throw and converted for a 27-21 lead. Antonia Kisler followed with a 3-pointer, and Steele added another bucket to put Sandburg ahead 32-21 with 2:00 left in the half.
• The Chargers scored 10 of the first 12 points coming out of halftime, starting with Gabbie Vontz's steal-and-layup on the opening inbounds pass. The quick burst gave the Chargers a 48-29 advantage over the WolfPack.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Pieper ended with a season-best 25 points on an efficient 12 of 15 from the floor. The sophomore forward also had seven rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists.

• Kisler: 12 points, eight rebounds

• Camille Hauser: 17 points, five rebounds
