EAST PEORIA — The Carl Sandburg College women's basketball team saw its eight-game win streak snapped in an 87-62 loss at Illinois Central on Wednesday.
The Cougars used big periods to begin each half in handing the Chargers (9-2) their first defeat in 26 days. ICC outscored Sandburg 27-12 in the opening quarter and held a 46-30 lead at halftime. The Cougars used a 19-8 third-quarter advantage to expand their lead further.
Freshman forward Brook Pieper had a team-best 13 points for Sandburg in the loss.
ICC had six players score in double figures, led by Cora DeSutter's game-high 21 points and 13 rebounds.
