Chargers swept on road after Cavaliers’ quick starts

KANKAKEE — Host Kankakee jumped to first-inning leads in both games of a doubleheader against the Sandburg softball team Friday.

Key moments
The Cavaliers sent 13 batters to the dish in a nine-run bottom of the first. The Chargers scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings on an Ailexa Hunter RBI double, Alexis Brammeier RBI single and Hannah Pyle sacrifice fly.

Sandburg standout
Hunter had doubles in two of her three at-bats. In addition to her RBI two-bagger in the third, Hunter doubled to right in the fifth.

Key moments
The Cavaliers struck quickly for all the runs they'd need, scoring five times in the first. Brammeier's fifth-inning single to right represented the lone hit of the game for the Chargers.
