Skyhawks Pull Away Late vs. Sandburg Softball

GALESBURG — Sauk Valley pulled away in the final two innings to defeat the Carl Sandburg College softball team 11-5 on Tuesday in an Arrowhead Conference matchup at the Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was suspended in the top of the sixth inning with Sauk Valley leading 25-10. The game will be completed at 3 p.m. April 21 during the Chargers' trip to Dixon.

Key Moment
After the first two Sauk Valley hitters in the top of the sixth were retired, a pair of hit batsmen followed by a base hit to center brought home the go-ahead run and broke a 5-5 tie. The Skyhawks tacked on five more runs in the seventh.

Natalie Righi (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) reached three times for the Chargers, going 1 for 2 with a double, two walks, a run scored and two RBIs.
