Walker’s Shutout, Righi’s 5-for-5 Game Lead Chargers to Sweep at Kishwaukee

MALTA — The Carl Sandburg College softball team won a tense pitchers' duel then erupted for 20 runs on 22 hits in sweeping an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader at Kishwaukee on Monday afternoon.

Key Moments
Gabby Blanchard (South Pekin, Ill./Pekin) connected for a leadoff home run to center in the third to give the Chargers (4-8, 2-2) all the scoring they'd need.
Riley Creasey (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) added some insurance in the fifth when she swatted a homer to center with one out in the inning.

Sandburg Standout
Brooklyn Walker (Burnside, Ill./Warsaw) turned in a dominant performance in the circle, shutting out the Kougars on just three hits in a complete-game victory. Walker struck out 11, walked three and hit a batter in the win.

Key Moment
Natalie Righi (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) highlighted a nine-run second inning for the Chargers with a three-run home to left. The blast put Sandburg up 8-0, and the Chargers led 10-0 after the top of the second.

Sandburg Standout
Righi was a perfect 5 for 5 at the plate as she drove in six, scored three times and finished a triple away from a cycle. The shortstop doubled in the first, homered in the second, singled in the third, singled again in the fifth and came to the plate again in the fifth, adding another double.
