Rademacker’s Walk-Off Double Completes Sweep for Chargers in Home Opener

GALESBURG — Gracie Rademacker (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) delivered a walk-off double in Game 2 to help the Carl Sandburg College softball team complete a sweep of Lake County in the Chargers' home opener Monday afternoon at the Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

Key Moment
Leading 7-6 in the bottom of the third, the Chargers (2-6) extended their lead with three runs. Brooklyn Walker (Burnside, Ill./Warsaw) doubled with one out and scored when a liner to center off the bat of Emma Wolfe (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) was misplayed. Wolfe scored from third on a groundout to short by Rademacker. Natalie Righi (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) was hit by a pitch, moved up on a single and scored on an error by the Lancers shortstop.

Sandburg Standout
Maddi Benson (Spring Bay, Ill./Metamora) singled three times in three at-bats and knocked in three runs to lead a 14-hit Chargers attack. She also scored a run.

Key Moments
• The Chargers went up 10-5 behind a five-run fourth, but the Lancers rallied to tie, scoring three in the fifth and pulling even on Natalie Lother's two-run homer in the seventh.
• Creasey drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the seventh and moved to second on Wolfe's base hit to left. Rademacker then doubled to right on a 1-1 pitch to bring home the game-winner.

Rademacker's game-winning hit capped a 3-for-5 effort that included two runs scored and two RBIs.
