Sandburg Men’s XC Team 12th in Latest USTFCCCA Rankings
GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College men's cross country team remained in the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's NJCAA Division II rankings for the second consecutive week.
The Chargers, who were 10th in the initial rankings of the season, dropped two spots to No. 12 in the most recent poll. It marks the seventh time in a row Sandburg's men's team has appeared in the USTFCCCA poll, dating back to last year.
The Chargers are coming off a third-place finish at last week's Heartland Invitational, which included the host Hawks (ranked No. 2 this week) and No. 16 Kaskaskia. Sophomores Emmanuel Kiprop (third place, 25:46.68) and Calton Kibet (fifth, 26:14.78) each had top-five showings for Sandburg in the 8-kilometer race.
The Chargers' next meet is the Sauk Valley Invite at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Dixon.
