Robertson extends string of rounds in 70s with T7 finish at Highland Spring Invite
FREEPORT — Colby Robertson tied for seventh as the Sandburg men's golf team played Monday in the Highland Spring Invite at Park Hills.
The Chargers tied for fifth in their final tune-up before next week's Region 4 tournament. Sandburg's 324 matched the score put up by Iowa Central and was two back of Black Hawk Black.
Robertson posted a 1-under-par 35 on the front nine and finished with a 7-over 77 on the day. The freshman out of Illini West High School has posted a score in the 70s in each of his last five rounds.
Robertson had birdies at the par-5 fourth, par-4, eighth and par-5 18th holes. He had two birdies, six pars and just one bogey on the opening nine. Five other players matched Robertson's round of 77. He was one shot out of a tie for fourth and two out of third place.
Teammate Kenny Hoosen finished with a 78 and tied for 13th. Hoosen's day featured a birdie at the par-4 fifth as he carded a front-nine 38. Logan Beers (84) and Tanner Wake (85) provided the Chargers' other two counting scores.
Black Hawk's Wil Sigwarth was medalist with an even-par 72, finishing a stroke ahead of Highland's Luis Duffy.
Host Highland shot 307 to win the 10-team tournament by 10 shots over Black Hawk and Madison.
