Picken’s 77 ties for 2nd at Carl Sandburg Invite
GALESBURG — Tyler Picken tied for second overall in the Carl Sandburg Invite on Thursday at Lake Bracken, the Chargers men's golf team's final tune-up before the Region 4 tournament.
Picken posted a 6-over-par 77 to finish in a four-way tie for second place. He ended up three shots back of Black Hawk's Titus Cramer, a Knoxville High School product. Picken's runner-up showing marked his third top-two finish this season and the fifth time the sophomore has placed in the top five.
Sandburg placed sixth as a team with a 332 total. Logan Beers carded an 82 for the Chargers, whose other counting scores came from David Hise (86) and Kyle Shaw (87). Jake McGarry, playing as an individual, matched Hise's 86.
Black Hawk won the event with a 316 total, beating Sauk Valley by two shots.
