Chargers Men’s Golfer Picken Earns Spot on All-Arrowhead Conference Team

BYRON — Sophomore Tyler Picken earned a spot on the all-conference team as the Carl Sandburg College men's golf team competed at the Arrowhead Conference Championship on Monday and Tuesday at PrairieView.

Picken tied for 11th in the 54-hole tournament. He shot two rounds of 9-over-par 81 on Monday and closed with a 7-over 78 in Tuesday's final round. The top 15 finishers earned spots on the all-conference team.

Sandburg finished sixth as a team in the tournament with a total of 1,012. The Chargers opened with rounds of 335 and 347 on Monday before posting a 330 on Tuesday.

Freshman Logan Beers tied for 19th with a total of 249, and sophomore Kyle Shaw tied for 27th at 261. David Hise and Hunter Weeks placed 34th and 35th with totals of 272 and 273, respectively.

Black Hawk Gold won the conference title by four shots over Illinois Valley Purple with a score of 938. The Braves' Mason Steinert was the individual conference champion, shooting 7 over for the tournament to beat teammate Titus Cramer by eight shots.

The conference championship was the final event of the fall season for the Chargers.
