Trinidad, Narvaez shine on mound in Chargers' sweep at Illinois Valley
PERU — Yasiel Trinidad and Jose Narvaez each turned in outstanding starts as the Sandburg baseball team allowed just eight hits in sweeping an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader at Illinois Valley on Tuesday.

Key moments
• Leading 1-0 in the sixth, the Chargers gave themselves some breathing room with a pair of insurance runs. Derek Cintron, Colton Allen and Dayton Lundstrom each singled to open the inning and load the bases. Derek Castillo followed with a two-run single to left for a 3-0 advantage.
• Trinidad took a shutout into the seventh, allowing just two hits in his first six innings. A leadoff triple in the seventh led to the Eagles' only run. Trinidad polished off his complete game with a popout to first baseman Jace Wilkerson.
Sandburg standout
Trinidad allowed a single run on three hits and four walks in the victory. The freshman righthander tied a season-high with nine strikeouts. He also fanned nine on April 1 at Kishwaukee. Trinidad faced 30 batters and threw 71 of his 114 pitches for strikes. The Chargers' leadoff man also doubled and scored a run at the plate.

Key moments
• Scoreless in the third, Sandburg put together a three-run rally with two out in the inning. Cintron and Allen singled before Lundstrom was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Castillo brought them all in with line-drive double to left field.
• The Chargers added four more two-out runs in the sixth to push their lead to 8-0. Cintron delivered a bases-loaded single that drove in two runs, and Allen added a two-run single of his own.
Sandburg standout
Narvaez kept IVCC off the board through his first 5.2 innings of work. He finished six strong innings (his longest outing of the year), allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while fanning seven batters. The sophomore needed 95 pitches (63 strikes) to get through six innings.
