Lundstrom collects 2 knocks, but No. 8 Hawks pull away from Chargers

NORMAL — The Sandburg baseball team outhit nationally ranked Heartland, but the No. 8 Hawks handled the Chargers 11-1 in eight innings Monday night.

Key moments
• The Chargers took a 1-0 lead in the second as Dayton Lundstrom doubled to right with one out and scored as Joel Medina followed with a two-bagger to left.
• Heartland scored in six of the final seven innings, including a four-run sixth that pushed the Hawks' lead to 10-1. Sandburg pitchers held Heartland to seven hits in the game, but the Hawks to advantage of 13 walks issued by Chargers hurlers.

Lundstrom ended the night 2 for 4 with Sandburg's lone run scored. The left fielder had a leadoff single in the sixth to go along with his second-inning double.
