Hankins Has 4-Hit Night in 10-8 Loss at No. 2 Hawks
GALESBURG — Payton Hankins had a four-hit night, but second-ranked Heartland broke a tie game with a pair of runs in the eighth to beat the Carl Sandburg College baseball team 10-8 on Tuesday in a nine-inning contest.

KEY MOMENTS
• Down 5-4 in the seventh, Frank Kelch led off the inning with a home run to tie the contest. Hankins followed with a single and scored on Jack Barham's double to right to put the Chargers up 6-5.
• The Hawks regained the lead with a three-run bottom of the seventh, but the Chargers scored twice in the eighth to tie it. Bryce Brown led off with a triple and scored as Jack Shields double to right, making it 8-7. With two out, Hunter Caves singled on a full count as Shields scored the tying run.
• Heartland came right back, though, leading off the bottom of the eighth with a home run to take the lead again and tacking on an insurance run on a passed ball.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Hankins logged his first four-hit game as a Charger as he doubled in the second and singled in the third, fourth and seventh. The freshman right fielder's only blemish was a strikeout in the eighth. Hankins also scored twice, drove in two runs and stole a base.
