Chargers Drop 2 on Road for 1st Conference Losses of Season

MOLINE — After sweeping Black Hawk at home Saturday, the Carl Sandburg College baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader Tuesday on the road against the Braves, giving the Chargers their first Arrowhead Conference losses of the season.

Sandburg (17-14, 12-2) still owns a one-game lead in the loss column over Black Hawk (9-3) with six games left on the Chargers' conference schedule.

Key Moment
The Chargers evened the score in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Mitch Ball (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria), but Black Hawk regained the lead with a pair of fifth-inning tallies. A walk and a hit batsman put two runners on before a two-out, two-run double proved to be the difference.

Ball's homer accounted for the Chargers' lone run of the contest.

The Braves used a pair of Chargers errors and three singles in the second inning to scratch across the only two runs of the game.

Sandburg Standout
Jack Barham (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) suffered a tough-luck loss, allowing two unearned runs on six hits over six innings. Barham struck out three and didn't walk a batter.

WEDNESDAY AT SWIC PPD
The Chargers' game scheduled for Wednesday at Southwestern Illinois has been postponed. A makeup date has yet to be announced.

GAME THURSDAY AT ICC ADDED
The Chargers have added a nine-inning game at Illinois Central at 4 p.m. Thursday.
