Allen, Hise Hurl Shutouts as Chargers Sweep Kishwaukee, Extend Streak to 8

GALESBURG — A day after sweeping 16^th-ranked McHenry County, the Carl Sandburg College baseball team ran its winning streak to eight games with a pair of 10-0 Arrowhead Conference victories over Kishwaukee on Monday at the Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

Key Moment
The Chargers (11-7 overall, 4-0 Arrowhead Conference) sent 10 batters to the plate in a seven-run second inning. The first six hitters reached safely for Sandburg, which had five hits and a walk in the frame, including a two-run double by Mitch Ball (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria).

Sandburg Standout
McKoy Allen (Rutland, Ill./Fieldcrest) pitched a five-inning shutout, allowing just five hits and a walk while striking out four. The lefthander needed just 67 pitches to earn the victory, throwing 44 for strikes.

Ashton Johnson (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) led off the game with a triple to right and scored two batters later on a single by Logan Van Heuklon (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) as the Chargers scored twice in the first and never looked back.

Sandburg Standout
Jason Hise (Knoxville, Ill./Knoxville) made it another shutout for the Chargers as he allowed just two hits and a walk in a complete-game victory. The righthander fanned six and threw 43 of his 62 pitches for strikes. Over his last three outings, Hise has allowed only two runs and whiffed 11 in nine innings of work.
