GALESBURG — Nationally ranked Southeastern went ahead with a four-run second inning and defeated the Carl Sandburg College baseball team 7-3 on Tuesday at the Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

The scheduled nine-inning game was called with one out in the top of the eighth on a windy, wet afternoon.

Key Moments
• The Chargers (3-7) took a 2-1 lead after the first inning as they began the opening frame with back-to-back-to-back doubles by Ashton Johnson (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield), Chase Mason (Washington, Ill./Washington) and Cam Scott (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs).
• The Blackhawks, ranked 17th in NJCAA Division II, responded with four runs on four hits in the second to take the lead for good.

Sandburg Standout
McKoy Allen (Rutland, Ill./Fieldcrest) tossed three scoreless innings out of the bullpen to keep Sandburg within striking distance. The southpaw surrendered two hits and a walk while striking out three batters. He threw 26 of his 47 pitches for strikes.
